The Society was created in June of 1889 by three physicians who believed they could start a Medical Society:We, the undersigned physicians of the County of Placer, being desirous of establishing a greater degree of fraternity and closer social intercourse, one with another, cordially invite you to meet with us at the Court-House, in Auburn, on the 27th day of June, 1889, then and there to form a COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY and to take such steps as may be deemed expedient to make such an organization permanent.
